My Kennings Poem

Walt : distinguish between relevant and irrelevant ideas in my kennings poem.

Learning Reflection

I was able to write relevant ideas about myself like 'A netball defender'.  I had fun writing this type of poem because it is a simple poem about me.

Sometimes I found this a challenging because I had to think of things that represent me.  Next time I am going to try and think of more interesting words and ideas that only relate directly to me.

Statistics

Walt : display data on histogram, tally chart
Walt : interpret information from histograms and tally marks eg. medium, mode, range, mean

I was able to use the scores to make my histogram.

  • The range for first names scores was 4 to 20.
  • The range for last name scores it was 2 to 21.
  • The range for full name score 9-31.
  • The first name scores had smallest range.
  • The last name scores had the biggest range.

The mode is the most common number that appears the most times.
The mean is the number you get when you add a set of numbers or data and divide it by the number of numbers. The medium is a number that you get from a set of numbers and you have to find the number in the middle and then that is your medium number.
I really enjoyed doing this and I would like to do this again but with a different set of numbers.

Spelling- 45 Letter Sounds

Walt: use different spelling patterns and strategies to increase my word knowledge.

There are 45 letter sounds in the English language. Sometimes these sounds are made by one letter and sometimes they are made by a group of letters together. Learning these letter sounds will help me spell unknown tricky words and increase my word knowledge.

10 Things You Need To Know About Me

Walt : use advanced punctuation

We have learning how to use bullet points correctly in my 10 Things About Me slideshow.  I learnt you need to :
  • Place the bullet point in the margin.
  • Use a capital letter after the bullet point.
  • If you have written a sentence, end it with a punctuation eg. fullstop.
  • Bullet points are used to create lists.
  • Find the bullet points icon on the right hand side at top of the tool bar called bullet lists.
  • You have to be in the text box to find the bullet point key.
Next time I will try and use bullet points in more of writing.

Can you guess which of my information is true and which is a lie ?

Welcome Post

My Reflection:
This year I'm feeling anxious but excited for this year because I get the chance to try things that I haven't tried before.  I am looking forward to inter school netball & softball.  I  also am wanting to expand my knowledge of  math and learn more about roman numerals and percentages.

My goals this year are ...
  • to receive the Carolyn Osborne Trophy
  • to get 100 ticks
  • to become a peer mediator
  • to become a house captain.
