Number Strategies

My Reflection

I found this tricky because I had to find 4 different ways to solve the problem and also for 2 of the slides we had to write why we chose that strategy and I think the most common one we used was PVP. 

Personification

My Reflection

I found this easy because we just had to give non human objects human characteristics and we found objects and gave them human characteristics e.g The tree waved goodbye to me as I walked to my friends house.

Perimeter word problems

I have been doing perimeter word problems.  Perimeter is were you find the length or width of a shape.  We have been doing perimeter word problems with a buddy because it was collaborative maths.

The land of lost hats

I found this pretty easy because we were thinking of a monster that would make the story more interesting.  We used personification by giving hats a human characteristic, onomatopoeia by using loud sounding words.

I found this very hard because we had to come up with our own question's about the war and we had to search up the answer and put it in our own words.

Metaphors

I found this task hard because it was hard to come up with metaphors and you could only use 2 metaphors that you haven't made up.  I think I did very well in this task and made good progress in this task.  My next step is to write stronger metaphors.

Maori games

I found this task fun and challenging because I had to write the rules,how to play and the history but the fun part of this task was to play the game and test it out with the rules.  I think I did great in this task but I think I could improve on it more.

The 7 Children

I found this task challenging because you had use word that have the same amount of syllables but  it was hard so not so many of my slides have the same amount of syllables that was so challenging!!!!
I think I could improve on my poem but I think it is good.  

Themes In 88 Lime Street

Was to find the main themes in 88 Lime Street and create a main idea pyramid.  I found this tricky because it was hard to find the themes and find out what goes into the pyramid which stressed me the most.  I think I could do better and find more information. 

Readers Response.

                              My Reflection
Was to write a response to Denise Kirby´s novel '88 Lime Street.  I found this easy because I could connect to most of the questions and could find many connections to slide 6.  I think I did  a good job but I think I could do better and explain more.

Fractions Of A Whole

We had to make the Fractions and find out the how many equal parts there were and add up the parts for example:
3/8 of 24 would be 6 because 3 x 8=24 and 24 shared between 8 =3.
This was easy and difficult because I had learnt fractions in year 4 and 3 and it helped me in this task but it got a bit confusing in some of the fraction slides which made it difficult.  I need to improve on my eighths and sevenths because I got most confused on them.  I can now use my knowledge for multiplication and division.

The land of Randomness

Was to create a land of my choice and make a short story of the land I made.  I found it easy because I had done random stuff so that's why I made a land of randomness.   We made the lands after we finished the book 'The Faraway Tree'.

This is my Haiku poem about Matariki. We had numbers like 5,7,5 we had them because it was the number of syllables we had to put in them ,and how many words go in that sentence.  If it had a syllable it counts as two words e.g counting would be count-ing.

It was kind of easy but really fun.

Making dumplings

On Thursday the 24th or march rm 24 made Dumplings!  And it was so fun so let me tell you about making dumplings...

When we got to the hall the room was filled with the smell of dumpling dough and the air filled with excitement.  We had to wash our hands before we started making dumplings when we washed our hands we went to a table I was next to my friend Coco she was an expert making dumplings first we watched a demo made by the people making dumplings and they looked amazing!  When we started I had to remember what she did and I tried to make them the way she did but I did not look right so my first dumpling not so well done but I will try harder on my next one.  On my next one I did much more better and it looked  better I was delighted and for my other 1 I did even better and it was very fun.

After we finished making the dumplings we got to EAT THEM!!  The room filled the sound of dumplings sizzling and the smell coming from the kitchen made me hungry and Coco thought me how to use chop sticks and when the dumplings came the smell was sensational and when we got one on our plate and got to eat them they were delicious and I got 6 but some others got 3 or 5 but I had heaps of fun especially eating them!

Cricket Problem

Was to find out the Combined score of this cricket game and how much NZ won by.  I found this tricky & easy because Matua Fienza taught us how to solve word problems.  My next step is to solve this & remember what to do.

Author Purpose

Was to find the messages in Matilda who told lies and was burned to death.  I learnt about passive and overt ideas Passive are ideas we don't notice because we except them to much that we forget about them.  My next step is to do this again in our other book we are reading and this time trying to do it myself.

Word Problem

Was to solve and find out how to solve a word problem.  I had to circle the keywords,Figure out whats going on, order/sequence, Strategies and what operations I would use to solve the problem .  I found this easy and tricky because I really didn't understand word problems at first and now I  understand them.  I think I can improve by thinking of what I should do first and when I have completed them I can go straight on to the drawing. 

Things You Can Compare and Contrast

Was to find similarities and differences between me and Matilda (from the poem) and wrote it in my book first and the things I had to write as a difference or similarity the things I had to write about was Gender,Behaviour,Personality,Family and Leisure time.  I found it easy and hard because I had to find differences which was very easy but the similarities were hard and easy but it was really fun. I think I can improve by making it more interesting. 
                                                                       

Subitising

Was to find heaps of strategies to solve problems that my partner did.  I found it Challenging and easy at the same time which was quite funny.  I think I can do better because I know more  strategies I just haven't thought about them.

Reading Comprehension - Matilda

Was to  write the answers to these questions that Mrs H gave to us.  She based the questions on the poem "Matilda who told lies and was burned to death" and we read the poem and we got sent this doc and started working on this .  I found this tricky because  answering the questions was hard but I found it easy in the end.

Matilda Who Told Lies And Was Burned To Death

Was a write response for a short poem called 'Matilda Who Told Lies And Was burned To Death' And it teaches us to not tell lies or we might end up like Matilda in the story.  I found it tricky to write about what I felt and what I thought about this.  My Next step is to start learning more about poems and write another response.

Spelling Rule 1 (b)

                                                   My Reflection 
Was to replace just the  words at the top until it came to city.  What we had to do was we had to do for this spelling activity.
I found it easy because you could easily change the y- ies like this for example:
Family-Families
It is as simple as that!  My next step is to start on the next half of the spelling.

Was to rewrite the original poem and change it into a bubble poem in my own words.
My Next step is to rewrite a different poem.
